You may not have heard about this latest assault on your wallet because while you were enjoying Canada Day festivities with friends and family, Dalton McGuinty used that opportunity to sneak in his punishing eco-tax. The so-called eco-fees are a new tax on over 10,000 household products, including prescription medications, bath toys, sunblock, laundry detergent – even smoke alarms! Dalton McGuinty and Stewardship Ontario, the secretive government agency that will levy and collect this new tax, gave Ontario families no warning about it beforehand. Worse, we’ve learned that Stewardship Ontario has instructed retailers to hide the tax in the product price so that “the consumer is none the wiser.” Sneaky new taxes. No accountability. All on the heels of the HST.
As permier, Tim Hudak, will repeal Dalton McGuinty's latest tax grab - the eco-tax - which has been slapped on over 10,000 household items.

Sneaky Dalton!
Premier Dalton isn’t Mike Harris.
Harris used to tell you what he was going to do, and took the heat.
McGuinty dodges, dissembles, hedges, fudges, pretends, prevaricates and generally does anything he can to divert public attention from his actions.
Then he raises taxes and hides to avoid the blame.Read more: http://fullcomment.nationalpost.com/2010/07/10/kelly-mcparland-ontario-pays-the-price-of-environmental-posturing/#ixzz0tgcr3d6D

$45,000 Jackpot, each, for HST collectors
Dalton McGuinty's HST deal just keeps getting worse for Ontario families. Now HST tax collectors are getting rich with $25 million in severances... and they are not losing their jobs and won't even miss a day of work. While the rest of us will be forced to pay more for gas, hydro, home heating fuel, minor sports and dozens of other everyday expenses, Dalton McGuinty is dolling out up to $45,000 to each of his HST tax collectors as part of his HST scheme.

Dalton McGuinty Hits Ontario Families with New $53 Million Hidden Hydro TaxDalton
Dalton McGuinty Hits Ontario Families with New $53 Million Hidden Hydro TaxDalton McGuinty has been caught trying to sneak a new energy tax onto to the hydro bills of Ontario families.McGuinty’s Hidden Hydro Tax is the fifth separate tax, charge, or price increase that is being imposed on Ontario families. Worse yet, the public were not given advance warning or information on the McGuinty Government’s new $53 million dollar hydro tax.“Nobody is surprised that Dalton McGuinty continues to look for new ways to take money out of the wallets of Ontario families. The McGuinty Liberals have outdone themselves by sneaking a new $53 million hydro tax in through the back door,” said Ontario PC Party Leader Tim Hudak. The new Liberal hidden hydro tax will be applied directly to hydro bills. It will be applied in addition to Dalton McGuinty’s $3 billion HST tax grab which will drive up hydro bills by an additional 8%.

A tale of two Olympics
It almost feels like months or a very long time since the golden boy of Canadian hockey, Sid the Kid, scored the golden goal. Even the organizers in their wildest dreams would not have dreamed of scripting an end as such. The games ended on a high and Canada truly ruled the world. CTV, well it could not have enough of the atheletes and even dedicated countless boring minutes to felicitating the medal winners in their studio (albeit, if only they could hold on to them in their studio and keep them from rushing to the pending final hockey game).
Well that was then, wild coverage. So, where exactly did they lose the script. Whatever happened to the Paralympics games coverage? Did it not have an opening ceremony? It had, a beautiful one, but then that not a big revenue earner for any television network. Sadly there was no telecast of that event.
Its never too late and now CTV has promised to telecast the closing ceremonies live. Now thats what I call true equality. If blaming the television networks is easy then test yourself, will you sit and watch or Hockey or a late sunday evening movie will be the preference?
